In the energy sector, G20 member countries will focus on accelerating the energy transition which is applied to the Energy Transition Working Group (ETWG) program, one of which is campaigning for environmentally friendly electric vehicles.

The event, which carried the theme Nickel For Better Future, is divided into three sessions and attended by various stakeholders, ranging from government circles, practitioners, business actors, investors, to academics.

Several participants who attended were:

  • Eddy Soeparno, Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI
  • Irwandy Arif, Special Staff for the Acceleration of Minerba Governance at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
  • Heldy Satrya Putera, Expert Staff for Improving Investment Competitiveness at the Ministry of Investment/BKPM

Indonesia produces about 30% of the world's total nickel. To take advantage of this advantage, the Government needs to make various efforts to encourage downstreaming and increase added value in the country, starting from boosting the construction of processing and refining plants, to implementing a policy of banning exports of raw nickel.
